Description:

Welcome to our Defensive Driving training unit for LV drivers. We'll cover essential safety practices for both mine sites and public roads. Our learning objectives include understanding defensive driving, anticipating hazards, and safely applying speed and communication techniques.A defensive driving mindset means scanning continuously for hazards and not letting external pressures dictate your decisions. Safety is always the priority. We use the SIPDE Method: Scan, Identify, Predict, Decide, and Execute, ensuring smooth and safe actions on the road.Mine sites present unique hazards like heavy equipment, blind spots, dust, and changing road conditions. Always follow current site rules.Public roads have hazards too: mixed traffic, intersections, and unpredictable road users. Always obey Ghana's traffic requirements. Before you start, conduct an LV pre-start inspection. Check tires, lights, seat belts, and report any defects immediately.Ensure your seat and mirrors are adjusted correctly, and all occupants wear seat belts. Secure loose items to prevent interference.Always manage your speed. Observe site and public road limits, match speed to conditions, and never let others pressure you.Maintaining adequate following distance is crucial. Increase your gap in poor conditions and always look ahead to anticipate changes.
