Your work visa anchors the Oman move Sponsor and residence Employment generally begins with an employer-sponsored work visa, work permit and medical documentation. A residence card follows for foreign residents; keep copies of all work and residence records. Employer changes Employer changes require the prescribed transfer-of-services process rather than an informal switch. Before accepting a new role Confirm sponsorship eligibility, permit status, transfer steps and settlement of employer obligations. Know the transition. Until the applicable SPF savings mechanism begins for the employee, Labour Law gratuity provisions remain relevant. Use basic salary. Separate basic salary from housing, transport and other allowances when estimating benefits. Keep proof. Keep contracts, payslips, salary certificates, contribution records, service certificates, calculations and final settlements. Riverside Gardens · Town hall 2026 7EXIT PLAN Property, banking and insurance need an exit plan Property route Foreign property ownership is restricted; eligible Integrated Tourism Complexes and qualifying usufruct structures are the key routes. Oman property-title guidance should be checked before committing funds. Due diligence Confirm freehold versus usufruct, transfer restrictions, mortgage terms, registration cost, developer rules and tax treatment. Banking exit Open banking with passport, address, source-of-funds, employer and taxresidency information. Do not close an Oman account until salary, gratuity, property proceeds and refunds have settled. Riverside Gardens · Town hall 2026 8BUDGET LINE, NOT AFTERTHOUGHT Health insurance is part of the relocation budget Review employer coverage before moving: dependants, hospital network, inpatient limits, co-payments and pre-existing conditions. Check maternity, dental, optical, emergency and repatriation benefits rather than assuming they are included. Oman’s Dhamani platform connects insurers and private healthcare institutions for eligibility, pre-authorisations and claims. When returning to India, arrange replacement cover promptly because employer coverage may end with employment. Riverside Gardens · Town hall 2026 9RETURN READY The India–Oman treaty changed the cross-border playbook India–Oman original DTAA: 1997. The 2025 Protocol entered into force 28 May 2025; applies in India from FY 2026–27.
