SCCP resource guide 2026

This guide introduces the Scenic City Certification Program. The program's mission is to support and recognize Texas municipalities that implement high-quality scenic standards for public roadways and spaces. It provides a proven, highly regarded tool for cities to assess, evaluate, and recognize their infrastructure standards. The SCCP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing Texas's visual environment. It has been successful in establishing a framework of cohesive scenic standards that promote sustainability through environmental conservation, economic management, and sense of place. The program's reach has expanded significantly since its inception in 2010 with 13 certified cities. By 2021, the program had certified 85 cities across Texas. It partners with 18 project collaborators, demonstrating a broad commitment to visual excellence. The program outlines critical factors addressed, including strong scenic standards, environmental conservation, economic growth and management, and sense of place.
