SERMON 05: WHY SHOULD YOU RESOLVE CONFLICT QUICKLY? “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment. ’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca, ’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. 21 22 I. DESTRUCTIVE ANGER HAS CONSEQUENCES II. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. These tools can help us, but they also bring challenges. The endless flow of information can distract us, make us superficial, and cause us to depend more on human knowledge than on faith. Sometimes, it makes us question what’s truly important, looking for quick answers instead of trusting God’s wisdom. The digital world can also influence us in ways that go against what the Bible teaches, making it harder to tell right from wrong. To stay spiritually healthy in this digital age, it’s important for us to keep our hearts and minds rooted in God’s Word. We need to spend time in prayer, read the Bible regularly, and connect with other believers. These habits help us stay focused on Jesus and His truth, rather than getting caught up in fleeting online trends. It’s also vital to teach the next generation about values like honesty, humility, and love—things that never change, no matter how much technology advances. When we show Christlike behavior both online and offline, we can help others see that faith and good character matter more than superficial digital interactions. With that in mind, our theme for SBCF in 2026 is “A LIFE LIKE JESUS.” This means living the way Jesus did in everyday situations—showing love and kindness to others, practicing humility in our interactions, and obeying God's will in all we do. For example, when we encounter a neighbor in need, we can offer a helping hand or a kind word, just as Jesus reached out to those who were hurting. When facing disagreements, we can choose patience and forgiveness instead of anger or revenge, following Jesus’ path of compassion. By living a life like Jesus and embodying His love daily, we can truly reflect His character and impact those around us in meaningful ways. Furthermore, Jesus was hardworking, often dedicating Himself fully to His mission and serving others tirelessly. He modelled a life of discipline, balancing prayer, service, and rest, inspiring us to stay committed and focused in spiritual growth and mission. Jesus also exemplified generosity, giving freely of His time, resources, and love to those around Him—feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and forgiving sins. Living a life like Jesus means we develop these qualities—being disciplined, humble, generous, patient, hardworking, and obedient. Let us remember Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:14-16: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. I invite you to join us as we strive to live like Jesus and glorify Him through every aspect of our lives!
