Description:
We are the Rotaract Club of Abugida, an organization dedicated to creating lasting impact through service and fellowship. Our club was established in June 2002 and officially chartered on June 23, 2004, making us a community-based club focused on making a real difference.
Since our inception, we have grown into one of the most active Rotaract clubs in Ethiopia, boasting a total of 150 registered members. Our commitment to service is evident in our many projects. For instance, the Blood Donation Project, launched in 2005, has gathered over 8,000 units of blood in historical records, with an estimated 24,000 people supported. In 2025/26 alone, we mobilized 1,865 donations across four rounds, impacting an estimated 5,595 lives.
Our Sanitary Pad Donation Project, started in 2013, has supported 500 students with essential supplies in 2024. The Brana Book and Library Support Project has seen more than ETB 630,000 mobilized and 1,450 students supported through book donations since its start. In 2025/26, we donated 150 textbooks, partnering with the Lille and Rotary Club of Addis Ababa Entoto to deliver learning materials to 200 children.
The Extending Love project is one of our earliest community service initiatives, providing psychosocial support and basic necessities. The Eye Vision Project has screened 1,500 students in 2025/26, fitting 31 with prescription eyeglasses. We also renovated classrooms through our School Painting and Learning-Space Improvement project, with 80+ classrooms renovated in Addis Ababa. Our Yewedekutin Ansu project supports vulnerable people by ensuring food, shelter, and medical care. These efforts highlight our mission of "Service Above Self," uniting people to create lasting change in our communities and beyond.
