Welcome to your smart world
I will learn to
• Say what AI means.
• Name one task AI can help with.
• Explain why we check AI answers.
• Give a clear instruction.
Look and talk
Look at the pictures on the cover. Find the child, the teacher, the phone
and the plant book.
1. Who is using the digital tool?
2. How can you learn about a plant without a phone?
Play Pass the question
Take turns with a partner. Say one thing you would like help with: a word,
a picture or a story. Your partner asks one question about your idea.S-CUBE AI / CLASS 3 / DISCOVER AI

Meet AI
AI stands for Artificial Intelligence.
AI helps computers do some tasks. It can find patterns in pictures,
recognise spoken words and make text or pictures from instructions.
People build AI systems. Many AI systems learn patterns from examples.
AI does not think or feel like a person. It can make mistakes.
Read and say
“AI can help me. I must think and check.”
Word explorer
Artificial: Made by people.
Tool: Something we use to help us do a task.
Pattern: Something that repeats or has a connection.
Intelligence: The ability to learn, understand and solve problems. AI does some
related tasks; it does not have all human abilities.

A leaf and a question
Maya found a leaf near her classroom.
“Which plant is this from?” she asked.
Her teacher used an AI picture tool. It
suggested a plant name.
“Let us check,” said the teacher.
They compared leaves on the plant and
checked a plant book.
Maya drew the leaf and wrote the checked
name.
Story detective
1. Who used the AI tool?
2. Name two ways they checked its suggestion.
3. What did Maya make? Tell a partner.S-CUBE AI / CLASS 3 / DISCOVER AI

Choose your helper
Some AI tools suggest what an object might be, turn spoken words into
writing or help make a short story.
Play Point and explain
Choose a person, an AI tool with an adult, or both. Tell your partner why.
1. You feel sad and want someone who cares.
2. You want a suggestion about an object in a picture.
3. You want to write a story and check it makes sense.
Machine or AI
A button-operated lamp is useful, but that does not mean it uses AI. Not
every computer, machine or robot uses AI.
Circle your answer
Every machine uses AI. Yes / No
AI can help with some tasks. Yes / No
People should check AI results. Yes / NoS-CUBE AI / CLASS 3 / DISCOVER AI

A Circle the best answer
1. AI is: a living friend / technology / a plant
2. We should: always believe AI / check its answers
3. Which instruction gives more detail?
a. Make something.
b. Suggest three names for a friendly elephant story.
B True or false
AI has feelings like a person. ______
An AI tool may give a wrong answer. ______
People can make creative choices with AI. ______
C Story shuffle

Draw what I say
Play with a partner. You need paper and a pencil. Clear details help
someone understand your idea.
1. Say: “Draw a house.”
2. Look at the drawing together.
3. Now say: “Draw a small house with one door, two square windows and
a tree on the left.”
4. Ask your partner to make a new drawing.
5. Swap roles.

Make a helpful classroom card
Your mission: make a card that reminds your class to care for its books.
Who will use my card? ________________________
My reminder: _______________________________
Create
Write one short reminder. Draw a matching picture. Make the words easy to
read. Example: “Keep our books clean.”
Check and improve
Ask a partner: Can you read my words? Does my picture match? What can I
make clearer?
Change one thing. Show your card to the class.
Optional: Your teacher can show AI message suggestions. Choose, check and improve one. You
can do the whole activity on paper.S-CUBE AI / CLASS 3 / DISCOVER AI

2. AI explanation and word explorer.
3. Leaf story and checking suggestions.
4. Helper game and practice questions.
5. Partner instruction game.
6. Classroom card creation.
7. Feedback, improvement and sharing.
Answer guide
Meet AI: Artificial Intelligence; build; mistakes. Machine or AI: No; Yes; Yes. Practice A:
technology; check its answers; b. B: False; True; True. C: 4, 1, 2, 3. Accept sensible
examples for open responses.
Helper game: a person for caring support; an adult-led AI tool or both for a picture
suggestion; both for a story and checking. Accept reasoned choices.
Observe the skill
Can the pupil state a purpose, give details, make a readable card, listen to feedback
and improve one feature?
Digital demonstration
Use a school-approved tool under teacher control. Pupils do not need accounts or to
share personal details. This chapter works without a computer lab.
