The right side mirror should have no cracks and functional signal lights. The right front door & mirror should open and close properly, with no mirror intact. The right rear door & mirror should be the same as the back door. The right rear tyre also needs enough air, good tread, and tight wheel nuts. At the back of the car, we check the third brake light, ensuring it's a small extra brake light on the rear windscreen/boot, working and undamaged. The rear windscreen should have no cracks, and the boot lid must close properly. The rear number plate must be clean and readable. Any emergency equipment, such as a warning triangle, should be present and in good condition. The rear lights & signal lights must be working and undamaged. The rear bumper should have no major damage, and the fuel tank cap/cover should close properly with no leaks. Next, for the left side of the car, we inspect the left rear door, confirming it opens/closes properly and the mirror is intact. The left front door & mirror should have no cracks and functional signal lights. The left front tyre needs enough air, good tread, and tight wheel nuts. A tip here reminds us that the examiner wants to see and hear us check—not just recite from memory. "PART 2 - RPK: Checking the Engine Bay" follows, where after walking around the car, we open the bonnet and check several items under the hood. We examine the car battery for no leaks, no corrosion, and good condition. The wiper washer water tank must have enough water inside. The radiator coolant reservoir tank should be in good condition, with coolant. The radiator cap/cover must not be damaged. The fan belt should not be loose, and not worn out. The brake fluid tank should have enough brake fluid and be in good condition. Lastly, the engine oil level should be at or near the maximum mark. Again, a helpful tip advises us not to unscrew any cap but to visually check the level through the tank markings, unless the officer asks us to open something. "PART 3 - RSM: Inside the Car, Before Driving" instructs us to get into the driver's seat. RSM checks ensure we are set up correctly and all warning lights work before we actually start driving. Under "A. Get Comfortable and Ready," we engage the handbrake—pull it up to confirm it's applied. We then adjust the gear to neutral (manual) or park (automatic). The seat needs to be adjusted to a comfortable, safe driving position. The seatbelt must be pulled on to make sure it clicks/holds properly. Under "B. Turn On the Electronics (Before Starting Engine)," we turn the key/button to the "ON" position (engine still off) and check all these gauges and warning lights, ensuring they come on and look normal. This includes the fuel gauge (showing fuel level), the speedometer (working, needle moves or display lights up), battery warning light (comes on, then checks normal), and handbrake warning light (comes on, since handbrake is applied). We also check the power steering warning light (comes on, then checks normal), engine oil warning light (comes on, then checks normal), and engine/check-engine warning light (comes on, then checks normal). For each gauge/light, we say: "[Name of gauge/light] is working / normal, Sir." Finally, for "C. Start the Engine and Test Everything," we start the engine by turning the key/button. Then, we check the small lamp (parking/sidelights), high beam (headlamp flash/full beam), and horn by pressing it to confirm it sounds. We also check the windscreen washer & wipers by spraying water and wiping the glass. The hazard lights must show all four corner lights blink. For each action, we state: "[Item] is working, Sir."
