Central to the story is Frank, a man in his 40s or 50s, characterized as "The Seeker." He is a spiritual teacher whose brand is built on hope, but whose soul is cracking under the weight of his own message. His journey in "Coherence" begins with "The First Crack," when his wife, Olivia, confronts him about his polished, original narrative. She challenges him, saying, "You used to be... fresh and... original. You spoke with passion. Relevance." As the narrative progresses, Frank moves from the public sphere of his performance into a more private, and ultimately secret, realm, symbolizing a descent into his collapsing reality. This visual progression is starkly illustrated by a spotlight on a wooden floor representing "The Public Sphere," a darkened room with a single sliver of light for "The Private Sphere," and a concrete, somewhat sinister environment for "The Secret Sphere."
