and it is near the sea. It is
morning, but the sky is black.
It is raining. The sea is rough.Mr. and Mrs. Pinter are sitting
in their front room.
John Painter is reading a
book, but Anne Painter is
looking at the rough sea.“John”
, says Anne. “Look at
the sea! It’s rough. ”
“Yes, it’s rough, ” John says.
But he does not look up.
“You’re not looking! ” Anne
says.
“No,” John says. “I’m reading. ”“Look, John!” Anne says.
“Look! I can see a rowing -
boat. A man is in the boat. ”
John looks up. He can see the
rowing- boat too. He puts
down his book.“What’s he doing?” John says.
“He can’t row in that rough
sea.“I can see two boats now! ”
Anne says.
“Look! Look! I can see a
motor-boat. It’s stopping. The
man is rowing to the motor -
boat.” “The motor - boat is stopping, ”
says John. “The rowing- boat
is not going to reach it. Look!
The rowing- boat is sinking. ”
