Description:

Welcome friends. I'm Nadia — and today we're going back to school, but not to a classroom. We're going to a field.
I'm Faiz. And that field belongs to SK Ladang Yong Peng, where the school is preparing for its athletics championship — and not just any edition.
This is the seventy-fifth. Kejohanan Olahraga SK Ladang Yong Peng 2026 — Kali Ke-75 — set for the fourth to the sixth of November 2026.
Three days, one venue: Padang SK Ladang Yong Peng. And the target group is every pupil at the school.
Let's start with the why, because the programme document is quite clear about it. The championship is there to raise pupils' awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle through sport.
And it goes further than fitness. The stated objectives include developing pupils intellectually, physically, spiritually and emotionally — so it's framed as whole-child development, not just who crosses the line first.
There's a social side on paper too: strengthening unity and cooperation among the school community, and nurturing healthy competitiveness among pupils.
I like that phrase — healthy competitiveness. It's a good line to hold on to when the starting gun goes off.
Right, the timetable. Wednesday the fourth of November starts at seven-thirty in the morning, and it's a field day — finals for high jump and long jump.
That same morning belongs to the youngest competitors as well: a preschool sports carnival, sukaneka prasekolah, and the hundred-metre heats for preschool.
Thursday the fifth switches to the track — finals on the track, including the four-by-two-hundred-metre relay, the two hundred metres, and the preschool hundred metres.
And Friday the sixth closes it out with the hundred metres, the four-by-one-hundred-metre relay, and — nicely — a preschool four-by-one-hundred-metre relay as well.
Six events make up the programme: one hundred metres, two hundred metres, high jump, long jump, the four-by-one-hundred relay and the four-by-two-hundred relay.
And those results feed into three houses — Biru, Hijau and Merah. Blue, green, red.
Which, honestly, is where the noise comes from. Relay finals on the last day, houses neck and neck — that's the part of a school sports day people remember.
A championship like this doesn't run itself, though. The committee list is long, so just the headline names — Pn. Asmah binti Aziz is chairing it.
With En. Muhammad Nur Hasif bin Mohd Padzil, the senior assistant for co-curriculum, as deputy chair, and two vice-chairs: Tn. Hj. Azizan bin Sam for curriculum, and En. Shahriful bin Md Johan for student affairs.
En. Muhamad Fitri bin Ateh is secretary, Pn. Ashikin binti Merhat is treasurer, and Pn. Suhaila binti Abd Wahid takes the microphone as emcee.
And then there's everyone else — equipment, prizes and gifts, records and statistics, photography, the doa recitation, the PA and broadcast team. That's before you count the teachers out on the field.
The document ends with a page of thanks, and it's worth saying out loud: gratitude to the whole school community — the administrators, teachers, pupils, school staff and the Parents and Teachers Association — for their cooperation, support and commitment.
It also describes the championship's success as the result of shared effort and teamwork, with every contribution — direct or indirect — called meaningful in keeping the event smooth, lively, harmonious and full of sporting spirit.
And the closing wish: that this effort keeps the culture of healthy living alive, strengthens unity, and builds ties across the school community.
The motto on the programme says it neatly — Bersatu Hati, Berjuang dengan Semangat Kesukanan. United in heart, competing with a sporting spirit.
So there it is: fourth to sixth November 2026, Padang SK Ladang Yong Peng, seventy-fifth edition, three houses, six events.
Thanks for listening — and to everyone lacing up their spikes for it, good luck. We'll be back with another story from another school. Take care.
