strategically located in a rural setting, ensuring convenient access for the youth from the
southern villages of Thoothukudi District. Under the governance of the Thoothukudi-Nazareth
Diocesan, the college functions as the educational arm of the Thoothukudi-Nazareth Diocese
of the Church of South India. The institution provides a spectrum of academic offerings,
encompassing nine undergraduate courses and five postgraduate courses in Mathematics
(Aided), History, English, Chemistry, and Commerce. Moreover, the research centers
specializing in Commerce, English, and Mathematics extend Ph.D. programs to further
academic pursuits.
About the Department: The Department of Chemistry was established in 1978, with the
commencement of the M.Sc. Chemistry program in 2001. The department features a
dedicated analytical laboratory for both B.Sc. and M.Sc. Chemistry, equipped with essential
facilities. Students from both programs are actively engaged in academic projects within
popular fields such as Nano, Electrochemistry and Organic Chemistry. The department takes
pride in its rich legacy of producing university rank holders and gold medalists, guided by a
team of highly qualified and dedicated faculty. Our globally placed alumni continue to excel
in academia, research, industry, and leadership roles worldwide.
