Description:
Before starting the engine, we must ensure all fuel has drained from the induction system to prevent hydraulic lock. Then, install the engine cowling for ground operation. For optimal cooling during full power operations, we set the fuel flow to its maximum limit. Prepare the aircraft for ground run, start the engine, and advance the throttle to 1500-1800 RPM.With the mixture control in FULL RICH, reduce the throttle to the specified IDLE RPM. Monitor all engine gauges, slowly advance the throttle to full rated power, and stabilize for 15 seconds. After full power operation, turbocharged engines need at least five minutes at 800 to 1000 RPM for temperatures to stabilize. Always verify your wastegate adjustment for L/TSIO-360 and TSIO-520 models.During ground operation, ensure the engine cowling is installed. Remember, engine-driven fuel pump pressures vary with RPM. Always consult the fuel flow compensation table to achieve FULL POWER RPM.While operating at IDLE RPM, slowly move the mixture control from FULL RICH towards IDLE CUT-OFF to check fuel/air mixture. Adjust if the RPM change is outside the 25-50 range. For turbocharged engines, we adjust the full power metered fuel pressure. Loosen the aneroid adjustment screw, then turn it counter-clockwise to increase or clockwise to decrease fuel pressure. For engines with a fuel pressure regulator, we set the full power metered fuel pressure to the specified limit. Recheck IDLE RPM, unmetered fuel pressure, and fuel/air mixture to ensure they are within limits.
