We are thrilled to share the latest updates from the Kenyan hockey scene, as showcased in the Hockey Jamii monthly publication. This issue highlights the significant achievements and ongoing developments within Kenya Hockey Union. We've seen remarkable successes across various categories, emphasizing the growth and potential of Kenyan hockey. First and foremost, our Kenya U.18 Boys team clinched a gold medal, securing their qualification for the World Cup. Not to be outdone, the Kenya U.18 Girls team earned a silver medal, also qualifying for the World Cup. These achievements underscore the talent and hard work of our young athletes, who are setting new benchmarks for excellence in the sport. The U18 Boys were crowned Continental Champions, and they will be representing Kenya at the FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup in Egypt in December 2026. This is a historic moment for Kenyan hockey, reflecting years of dedication and strategic development. The Boys’ team demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork throughout their journey, overcoming tough competition to secure their well-deserved victory. We are incredibly proud of their resilience and determination on the field. The U18 Girls also displayed outstanding performance, securing their spot in the World Cup. Their journey was marked by moments of brilliance, sharp counter-attacks, and a defensive prowess that left spectators in awe. These young women have proven that Kenya's youth are ready to compete on the global stage. We believe their participation in the World Cup will inspire many more aspiring athletes and further elevate the profile of women's hockey in Kenya. Beyond these junior triumphs, our Kenya Masters teams have also made us proud, returning from the Netherlands World Cup with valuable experience. The tournament saw participation across five categories—O35 Men, O40 Women, O40 Men, O45 Men, and O50 Men—each team contributing to the overall success and spirit of Kenyan hockey. Their participation showcases the enduring passion for the sport across all age groups. We are also focusing on infrastructural development, with the newly unveiled Dashmesh Stadium set to host Premier League matches. This state-of-the-art facility features a world-class Astro Blue turf, certified by the International Hockey Federation. This development is a testament to our commitment to providing top-notch facilities that will nurture talent and foster a vibrant hockey community. The stadium is expected to bring a new level of excitement to local matches and provide an ideal venue for national and international competitions. The Premier League is currently underway, with both men's and women's divisions competing fiercely. The women's league, led by teams like Blazers Hockey Club and USIU-A Ladies, is showcasing some thrilling encounters. In the men's Premier League, teams such as Warriors and Western Jaguars are battling for supremacy, with dramatic shifts in the standings keeping fans on the edge of their seats. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the coaches, technical staff, and organizing committees whose tireless efforts have made these successes possible. Their unwavering support and dedication are the backbone of our achievements. We also appreciate our fans and volunteers for their continuous encouragement.
