AETHER_ Redefining Fashion for a Regenerative Future

The fashion industry's linear model of "take-make-waste" has inflicted severe, irreversible damage on our ecosystems, water supplies, and climate. It extracts resources, produces garments, and discards them as waste, creating a cycle of depletion that is no longer sustainable. We are facing a significant carbon footprint, with fashion contributing 4-8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The industry is also the third-largest user of water, draining 93 billion cubic meters yearly, severely stressing freshwater reserves and polluting waterways. Furthermore, it generates 92 million-plus tonnes of waste annually, with approximately 85% of all textiles ending up in landfills or incinerated, contributing to soil and air pollution. The microplastic risk is also alarming, with 500,000 tonnes of microfibers from synthetic clothing entering oceans each year, poisoning marine life and entering the food chain. We believe fashion can and must be a positive force for good—reimagining the entire lifecycle of a garment, from the seed to the final stitch, to nurture both people and the Earth.
