[email protected] Demonstrating that investments into decarbonisation
and the energy transition are still worthwhile has been
tough recently. Ongoing geopolitical and macroeconomic
challenge and confusion are scary for both project
developers and financiers. But inactivity is the enemy of
progress and fear fuels inertia.
However, there are many that realise the energy
transition is a worthy mission – one that can provide
significant and lasting results for individuals, businesses,
the environment, and the balance sheet.
Vattenfall has made its vision clear – fossil freedom.
At the same time, it continues to post impressive
results. Right now, the company is celebrating start of
construction on a major offshore wind park in Germany,
inauguration of a solar parks in Germany and Sweden,
the building on onshore wind capacity in the UK, and
the acquisition of a fast-charging business in the auto
industry. Through all of this, the company has made
strong profit and is more equipped than ever to generate
and distribute in a greener way that ever before.
Dajin Offshore is a leading steel supplier of components
to the European offshore wind market. The company is
investing heavily in its Chinese sites to ensure they are
recognised for world-class quality. SVP Peter Li tells us
that Dajin continues to pick up new orders and, even
though the European sector is challenged, it remains a
highly attractive market.
Argent Energy produces biofuels for the European
market from sites in the UK and the Netherlands. These
fuels drop straight into diesel engines as a like for like
replacement, reducing emissions dramatically. The
company continues to invest in capacity and progress
because it makes both moral and financial sense.
The story is the same for the Time To ACT group - home to
GreenSpur, Diffusion Alloys, and MTE Heat Treatment – which
has a long-term vision around offshore wind and hydrogen.
The group’s innovative technology is game changing for
these sectors and COO Jason Moody tells us that a patient
approach will see it through any current slowdowns.
Continuing to invest, carrying on with projects, believing
in the transition as a cultural shift rather than a costly
legislation is what separates true pioneers from the rest.

RWE opens new control
centre for offshore wind
farms in East Friesland
RWE OFFSHORE WIND GMBH
RWE is one of the world’s leading players in the offshore wind sector and has more than 20
years’ experience in the development, construction and efficient operation of offshore wind
farms. On 29 June 2026, the company officially opened its new offshore wind control centre
in Jemgum, a municipality in the East Friesland district of Leer. From this new facility, RWE’s
offshore wind farms in Germany and continental Europe will be monitored and controlled
around the clock. The building was constructed by Real Immobilien GmbH, which is based in
East Friesland. Around 50 RWE employees will be based at the new site.
Matthias Groote, District Administrator of Leer:
“The district of Leer is proving to be an attractive
location for companies driving the energy
transition in Germany. We are delighted that RWE
is opening its control centre in Jemgum today. One
reason this is significant is that it demonstrates
to us that we are not only bearing the burdens of
the energy transition, but can also benefit from it.
It is leading companies to set up operations in our
district and create jobs.”
Thomas Michel, COO RWE Offshore Wind:
“Expanding offshore wind energy requires not
only offshore turbines, but also high-performance
onshore facilities. Jemgum will serve as a central
hub for operating our offshore wind farms in
Germany and continental Europe. Initially, our team
will use this location to ensure the efficient and
reliable operation of five offshore wind farms. The
site is also designed for long-term growth and will
play a key role in RWE’s future offshore projects.”
Spanning two floors and covering an area of
approximately 1,120 square metres, the modern
office spaces, meeting rooms and control room
were completed in around 12 months. The building
features large communal areas with kitchenettes,
a sunroom and a gym room. Outside, there are
bicycle parking spaces, around 50 parking spaces,
and electric car charging stations.
Derk Niklas Janssen, RWE Site Manager: “We are
delighted to have found our new home port here in
Jemgum. This new facility provides a modern and
ideal work environment for our employees. But it’s
not just our existing team who will feel at home
here. We are looking to continue growing and are
seeking qualified staff, especially in this region.”
The building meets the highest sustainability
standards. For example, recycled materials were
used, and care was taken to ensure energyefficient construction. A solar panel system on the
roof covers part of the building’s electricity needs,
and water-conservation measures have been
implemented.
Dieter Baumann, Owner of Real Immobilien: “We
are proud to have built this state-of-the-art,
energy-efficient office building for a leading energy
company. This is another flagship project for us as
a real estate developer and investor. We are also
particularly proud to have created many highquality jobs in our local area.”
RWE is one of the world’s leading players in the
offshore wind sector and has more than 20 years’
experience in the development, construction and
efficient operation of offshore wind farms. The
company currently has 18 offshore wind farms
in operation and is consistently expanding its
portfolio. For example, it is currently constructing
the North Sea Cluster north of the island of Juist.
Once completed, this offshore wind project will
generate enough climate-friendly power to supply
1.6 million households. The new building in Jemgum
will also serve as an operational base for the
Nordseecluster project.
